The Frattasio Cat Family

A house is not a home without at least one cat! Let us introduce our five cats to you...

PC
PC is a thirteen year old female cat who adopted us two days after Christmas about twelve years ago. We found PC abandoned during a snow storm, crying under a car in our driveway in Brockton. PC was named after the Penn Central railroad because she is black and white. These are the same colors that were used on the Penn Central locomotives that Marc remembered from his childhood. PC has very distinct gold and blue eyes. She has a white heart shape marking on her chest and we think that is why she is always so happy and full of affection. All you have to do is call her name and she purrs. PC's favorite treat is a muffin or cupcake! She will help herself if such things are not kept hidden away from her.

Popeye
POPEYE is a ten year old one eyed female cat. That's why her name is Popeye. Marc found Popeye at a neighbor's house in Brockton when she was a feral stray. Popeye was so wild that Marc was unable to pick her up or pat her. Marc was determined to become friends with Popeye so he brought her tuna every day for a month. It was October and it was starting to get very cold at night. We did not want Popeye to stay outside any longer. Marc eventually caught Popeye and brought her indoors to our apartment. We released her into our kitchen and she stayed staring into a corner all night. Popeye would not move out of her corner to eat or drink so we fixed up the corner as her own private area. The next night we heard this really loud meow and we were very surprised to find Popeye sitting in the middle of the kitchen floor. She had decided she liked us and wanted to live with us afterall! Popeye has long since decided that our home is her territory and she sleeps wherever she wants to. Usually she likes to sleep in the warmest part of the apartment but if there is an empty basket around, Popeye takes it over as her own. What a great Easter Basket she found to sit in, too bad it's Popeye's now!

Bill
Bill is a very special seven year old male cat that we adopted from the Carver Cat Shelter. Bill came to the shelter after he had been hit by a car. The accident caused some permanent brain damage. Because of this, poor Bill could hardly walk, had lost sight in one eye, and suffered from a head tilt. On top of this, Bill had tested positive for Feline Leukemia. We took him anyway because he is such a great cat. Thanks in large part to a lot of love and some great care from Dr. Vernon Thornton at Robert's Animal Hospital, Bill has been free of Feline Leukemia for over three years. Bill's recovery has been remarkable. He prances like a race horse and jumps on everything now! Bill still paces around due to his brain damage but he shows signs of getting better every year. In the last two months, Bill has started purring again. Now he seems as happy as a any other cat in our family. Bill also likes to "hunt" his favorite toy, a catnip worm, at night and he howls when he finds it. We love to hear Bill hunting because we know is happy and hunting just like a tiger out in the wild!

Annie
Annie is an unusually affectionate five year old female cat that we adopted from the Carver Cat Shelter. Annie came into our lives during a very hard time. Marc and I had just lost our very first cat, ten year old NH (named for the New Haven railroad), to Feline Leukemia. Faith was visiting her friend Lea Pustejovsky at the Carver Cat Shelter for help on dealing with the death of NH and Annie sat on her lap all day. It was just as if Annie knew that Faith was very sad and needed some extra attention. Every time Faith went back to the cat shelter, Annie would crawl up her leg to be picked up and held. Well, eventually Faith had to take Annie home! Annie is happiest being carried around just like a human baby and she cries when put down! Whenever we need a hug, Annie is available any time of the day!

Apollo
Apollo is an enormous five year old male cat which we adopted from the Carver Cat Shelter. Apollo weighs about twenty pounds and he looks just like a black panther! Apollo has Feline Leukemia, just like Bill did. Although Apollo still had the disease, he is under the care of Dr. Vernon Thornton and he is now in remission. Apollo has doubled his weight since we brought him home from the Carver Cat Shelter and aside from the Feline Leukemia, he is as healthy as a horse. Most people are amazed when they meet Apollo for the first time and see how big he is. Apollo loves to be picked up and he likes to play just like any other kitten. Apollo's favorite toy is something called a "kitty tease" and he will not release it if he catches it. If Apollo wants to play, he drags the "kitty tease" out of its corner as an invitation to play. He also loves the other cats in the house and tries to bathe them. Apollo may be a big cat but he is really just a kitten at heart!
